Bowls are used in many different ways. But in general we use that bowl to eat or cereal or a hot soup. My quest to continue in providing you gift ideas for your love ones. I decided to scavenge the worldwide web to provide you with the totally different styles or designs of bowl.

Home Remedies for Head Louse and who's more prone to it

Way back in college, I wrote about an article about head louse “kuto”. In the study conducted by Jocelyn Sipol as a compliance with the requirement of her course at Benguet State University entitle “Prevalence of Head Louse among Elementary and High School students in La Trinidad.”

 In her study she found out those students in public elementary and high schools has shown higher infestation of head louse commonly known as “kuto” than those students in private schools.

She conducted her study among the pupils of BSU Elementary Laboratory School, La Trinidad Central School and Tadian Catholic School for her elementary school samples and she collected samples at BSU Secondary Laboratory School and San Jose High School for the high school students.

It was also concluded that primary schools have bigger population of pupils infected with head louse compared to the secondary students. I also think that secondary schools would have lesser chances of having the head louse because they are more conscious on their looks.

It is a common knowledge to everyone that females are vainer than their male counterpart and they are more physically active than females so it is most likely that males should have higher chances of incurring of head louse. However though in Ms. Sipol’s study showed higher tendency to have louse.

Due to these parasites attacking children it was also observed to be less active thus affecting their performance in class. It was also found out that they are malnourished physical appearances.

  

In earlier studies in other countries as cited by the DOH, there was showing that an average of 60 adult lice in each child’s head could consume about 1.2 ml of blood within their average life span of 20 days and nymph lice counted is 96 in one child.

The local study also showed that louse comb (sugod) is largely used since it is cheaper than the anti-head louse soap or shampoo. It was however; found that using anti-head louse soap or shampoo is more effective. Also, I made an experiment at home on how we could ditch out this parasites. I made sure that ingredients are found right at your home. I think it is similar on how you ditch out flea.

Ingredients

·         Baby Oil preferably coconut oil enough to cover the whole hair and scalp

·         Dr Wongs Soap

·         1 Glove of Garlic

·         Shower cap

·         Hair blower

Mince the whole glove of garlic. Our goal here is to make sure to get as much garlic juice as possible. After mincing the garlic add the whole bottle of baby oil then mix it properly. Then apply a huge amount of the mixture into your head. Massage it properly to ensure that every strand of your hair is covered with oil including your scalp. Cover your hair with shower cap for at least 2 hours and thirty minutes. Then lather Dr Wongs Soap then leave it for at least 3 hours. Wash it with warm water (warmest water you can stand).

Donate a Book for Colalo Elementary School Library

I can feel the breeze of cold winds blowing softly. That cool feeling means Christmas is fast approaching.

Few days ago my brother texted my sister to tell me if I could ask someone to donate books, brand new or secondhand, doesnt really matter as long as usable. When I ask him he told me that he is planning to set up a library for the school he is teaching.

Well I said that would be nice and I started asking around.

Remembering back my childhood days:


My mother was a teacher then at Colalo Elementary school way back in 2009 when a massive amount of rainfall damaged and sank the Colalo Elementary School. Everything perished including the chairs and books for these kids. A few years later my brother Jan Irvin is now teaching on the same school where my mom used to teach.


I remember when I was in my high school years when me and my siblings would walk hours just to reach the Colalo Elementary School. We gather mushroom as we go our way or sticks or woods. It was fun! Not until that fateful day of July 1999 when a huge portion of the school sank.


Today, my brother wants to take the initiative to build a library for the school, a place where these children could read and gain more knowledge. This is a place where they could research and explore the wonders of books. This place where they could travel through the information provided with this books.


Got an old book stuck in your shelves? Or a book that is still usable and wanting to dispose it? an old dictionary maybe? Any reading material from science to math to English to fiction that you want to dispose? Don’t put them on your trash bin send it to us so we could send it to these children. Who knows the book you donate is a stepping stone for any child to dream. Let us all work together to have these kids informed.

Your old book could be someone else’s inspiration to have a better tomorrow.

A thousand peso could buy so many things jeans, shoes, t-shirt, a food at a fancy restaurant or many other things. You could treat yourself and a friend with a starbucks coffee or a movie ticket for 2 with snacks. You could buy a coffee for yourself at starbucks or a Big Mac Value Meal with your 200 peso bill. What about shelling out a piece of those budget for a dictionary or a story book or a science book. Who knows with all our effort we can even buy an encyclopedia for the pupils of Colalo Elementary School.

Baguio City Restaurant: Azotea Greens - A Place for Vegetarians

After a long trip from Manila to Baguio, I tried walking from Victory Terminal to Session Road looking for a place to rest my aching back and to simply relax a bit before heading up north!

I ordered a Lemon Grass Tea

 Session Road for me is an easy access to almost everything that you need from restaurant to bars.While walking (around 6:00 AM) a waitress of Azotea Green approached me introducing their menu. I got so interested not because I am a Vegetarian but because she approached me in a friendly manner. Tired and hungry I decided to try the restaurant.

 Lemon Grass Tea – soothing and relaxing tea. They offer hot and cold. I ordered cold lemon grass tea. The aroma is perfect that offers soothing and relaxing effect on my tired body. I would suggest to add a little bit of ginger and honey for a better taste and relaxing or soothing effect most especially if it is served hot though it is also good in cold.

Want to know more about what I think of this place? Here are most of it:

1.       The place is perfect. I love the lighting of the place. If I am going to rate it, it will be an 8. I loved it because of the fact that it is not too bright but not too deemed too. Not too crowded. I also loved the instrumental music being played. It makes the restaurant more cozy and relaxing. I am looking for more landscape inside though the space is limited.

2.       The furniture’s I would say I will give them a score of 8. The tables and chairs are good however in a place like this where they offer only vegan I was expecting a wood carved chairs and tables. But then again the tables and chairs in this restaurant is very good.

3.       The employees are also very accommodating including the owner of the restaurant. I have been sitting in the corner observing and aside from the waitresses assisting the customers the manager also sees to it that he talks to the customers first. I will score them a perfect 10 for this.

One of the reason why I will definitely drop by on this place once in Baguio is because of the fact that they don't have loud music, a cozy place and a perfect place to meet with friends and bond together. A place where you could go away with the noisy and busy streets of Session Road.

Also, the location is so accessible. After a tiring day of shopping along the streets of session road or even at SM Baguio it would be nice to drop by and have a cool lemon grass tea!

Kare-Kare - Our Rainy Weekend Pleasure Food

Kare-kare is one of the Authentic Filipino Food that am sure most Filipino is most aware of. It is also one of the most served food in every Filipino occasions. September is actually my sister's birth month so I thought of preparing something a little bit extra specials that we could indulge in.

So here's how my friend Anton did the cooking. Please excuse me for the picture quality as it was taken via a phone camera.

Ingredients

• Pork Pata / Ox Tail
• Peanut Butter
• Ground Rice
• Atswete
• Bawang/Gralic
• Sibuyas / Onion Bulb
• Talong / Egg Plant
• Sitaw / Stringed Beans
• Puso ng Saging
• Pechay
• Kamatis / tomato
• Salt
• Oil (corn oil or vegetable oil)
• Bagoong

How to Cook

1. Boil Pork Pata / Ox Tail for one and half hour to achieve tenderness together with onion and garlic.
2. Separate the stock
3. Saute onion and garlic along with atswete (make sure that atswete is crushed).
4. Then add the stock and make it boil however set aside a bowl of stock.
5. Dissolve the ground rice into the small bowl of stock before putting it into the pot.
6. Make it boil then add peanut butter and then mix until the peanut butter is fully dissolved.
7. Add the vegetables starting with eggplant, stringed beans and puso ng saging. Add salt to taste.
8. Then add meat (pata) add let it boil for at least 15 minutes.
9. Serve while hot

For the Dip

1. Sautee bagoong along with onion, garlik and tomato.
2. Also you can add chili but it is optional.

Krazy Garlik: A True Dining Destination

Finally, I found a restaurant that is not that too expensive but still classy that captivates the very taste buds of food lover Filipino. My experience with them is superb! Superb in a way that I am satisfied with the food and the waiters/waitress who attended our needs.

The Food

Kessa ordered Crispy Pata, Stuffed Pechay, and of course a Filipino can never survive fried rice.

You maybe a meat lover or a vegetable lover but am sure you would like to combine the pechay and the meat together. I love the fact Krazy Garlik has come up with this awe so brilliant idea. Am sure I will gonna order this the next time I visit Krazy Garlik.

Crispy Pata.... I don't think there's a Filipino who at some point didn't love crispy pata.Pata is a leg part (including knuckles). Unlike with the other crispy pata that i have tasted in the past, the Krazy Garlik Crispy Pata is one of its kind. It isn't dry rather it is very much tender and juicy. The taste as well is awesome. I can taste the garlic in it. This is something that I would truly recommend!

As I said earlier, Filipinos love to it rice. I am sure and safe to say that at least 80 to 90% of Filipinos eat rice at least twice or even 3 times a day. However, the Garlik Rice was cooked really nice.

This is me., I look hagard na.... been awake for at least 15 hours already.

The food server is really friendly. However though when we are there it was a little bit difficult to call their attention. Maybe because there are actors and actress dining at Krazy Garlik so it was a little bit hard to call their attention but other than that they were superb. One more thing that I loved is when their manager came over and chat with us. She was asking about the food and if we are satisfied. That is truly an above and beyond customer experience!
