Random Pictures at Salcedo Village Weekend Market

Another reason why Salcedo Village is haunting is because of their wide array of food, beverage, kitchen stuff, vegetables and fruits.

Here are some of them that are totally delicious in my eyes.

The Foods you wanna indulge:

Not only that... they also have these bread, pastries and cookies that I really like:

And of course nothing can beat their well taken cared flowers. I am a flower lover and I cant resist myself from buying. If only I have a good place and or a house here in Metro Manila am sure I have bought a lot of these flowers at Salcedo Village Weekend Market.

While roaming around the market. My eyes caught these beautifully beaded table utensils. I love them.... I am almost tempted to buy them....

Who says you cant bring your kids while you do shopping for your kitchen needs. At Salcedo Village they have these park just beside the Salcedo Village Weekend Market. You can definitely bring your kids and have them play while you do your buying stuff. This would definitely distract them from going along with you and keep bugging you on something out of your shopping list.

So folks.... See you at Salcedo Village Park next weekend? Or if you have ever been to Salcedo Village share me your stories and experience there....

Salcedo Village Weekend Market: My Favorite Filipino Goodies

Filipino have their own distinct desserts and goodies we just love and enjoy. These are the foods I would say every Filipino would love. Every weekend I normally go out and buy any of these following goodies.

Most Filipino Kakanin (goodies) are normally made of malagkit rice (sticky rice or gluttonous rice), coconut milk, milk and sugar. This makes these foods really tasty.

Charity At Work: Hearts Day Edition

Am sure lover's out there are pretty much excited on the upcoming February 14 Valentines Day celebration. Maybe a lot of us are preparing for some romantic activities. For some, they might be spending a family dinner. Sales for valentine cards, flowers, chocolates, cupcakes, cakes will shoot up in the week of February 14.

Our group too, called the Project Mountain Alphabet sees this an opportunity to do some fund raising activities at work. At least, we will be selling bouquets of flower, cupcakes and cakes free delivery since we deliver the flowers in our office.

The proceeds would then be used to buy books needed for the school library. This would be our last fund raising for this season and we will be coming up for more all through out the year. We hope that there will be more people who are willing to help and donate their books, school supplies and maybe even used clothes for kids so we could give it to the school who needs them most.

Another Weekend at Salcedo Village - The Streetfoods

Its always best to know the street foods Philippines has to offer. For me I don't usually eat street foods just anywhere else. I love going to certain places I know I would enjoy and Salcedo Village Weekend Market is just one of my favorite places to go to during weekend.

The food there are superb. I just love all of them. One reason why I want visiting that place once in a while is that it caters almost everything I wanted to eat. They have what I am craving for.

The aroma of grilled meat makes me really hungry. I can smell the spices and burnt meat. It is quite amusing because they captured the taste I wanted my barbecue should be.

Another interesting street food that I really enjoy is the castania. I love cracking those tiny nuts... Am sure if you are a nut lover this is the nuts you wanted to taste.

And if you love sausage.. This Hungarian Suasage is just the right one for you. I just love munching this sausage its best and its best is when it is fresh from the pan. Hmmmm more food from Salcedo Village Weekend Market in the next few days....

Charity: The Books are Growing Fast

Collecting books are pretty much a tough one... I must admit that there are a lot of loopholes that we need to consider. The concerns are really valid that we need to take into consideration.

So for the meantime I needed to meet people who are willing to share their old books and I adore them because besides their busy schedule they are indeed willing to wait.

And here are some of the books that we collected.

Keep those books coming... I know there are still other people there who are willing to share what they have.

What's Next for Kevin Balot

I was just curious as to what happens next to Kevin Balot after winning Miss International Queen 2012 last December.

In case you want to know what happens to Kevin Ballot here are some update.

Last Janaury 3, 2013, Kevin posted a video thanking everyone for the prayer and letting anyone know that she is fine.

Still looks really fantastic even without make up on.

Here's Kevin Balot's Video in Facebook

Then last January 5 she posted again the picture with her hand on a dextrose. I am already guessing she finally did it. The Dream of every transgender and to finally have it. I was checking on comments and everyone is congratulating her and to finally have it. However despite the congratulation she never gave or comment about it.

Then last January 18, 2013 - she again posted a picture in the operation table. Which even intensifies my speculation that she finally has undergone a sex change surgery. I was waiting for her to post a comment but Kevin Ballot doesnt reply via commenting back in her facebook picture. I just noticed she keeps posting pictures maybe as an answer or even a confirmation. Well as they say, a single picture says a thousand words including misjudgement.

What about you guys, do you think she had undergone sex change already?

(PS all pictures are taken on Kevin Balot Facebook page)

Surviving Heart Attack when Alone

Heart Attack is the leading cause of death to almost anywhere. I myself was diagnosed to have a Rheumatic Heart Disease since childhood. Children with heart disease somehow is difficult. Based on my own experience, I never had the capacity to enjoy life in the barrio  I had fun times but it was limited because I easily get tired and gasps air.

There were a lot of fainting moments and hospital was my second home. Until now, I constantly visiting hospital but thank God it is not already my second home but rather I consider it as another house in a village (LOL)

When I am scanning my facebook timeline I happen to stumble a post by Healthy Tips and so I decided it to my dear readers most especially to those who have heart disease or a family member who has heart disease.

Imagine this: what if you are on your way home walking, riding a jeepney or a bus or driving. You came from  work frustrated, angry, upset and really really tired sometimes being too happy or you are extremely excited sometimes is dangerous to those who has heart illness (well thats what I know hehe). Because of this mix emotion, you started experiencing severe chest pains that is starting to drag out into your arm and up into your jaw.

That is already a sign that you are in trouble. You were thought how to do CPR but they never thought you what you do in case you were put in a situation where you need to rescue yourself. You are out there alone, or no one is able to help you, the nearest hospital is 10 km away or you got stuck on a very heavy traffic of Edsa. What would you? You only have 10 to 20 sec before you would feel faint and loose consciousness.

According to Healthy Tips, a victim could help himself by vigorously coughing and should be done repeatedly. Furthermore  a deep breath should be taken before each deep and prolonged cough as when producing sputum from deep inside chest.

Furthermore, a breath and a cough must be repeated every 2 seconds without let-up until help arrives or until the heart starts to beat normally. Healthy Tips further adds that a deep breaths get the oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. "The squeezing pressures on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, a heart attack victim can get to a hospital," Healthy Tips added.

This is a good note for me that I most memorize and so I could help myself when I would be in that bad situation.

First Batch of Story Books from selling Cupcakes

What else would I ask for.... These books are really awesome. Aside from having the English version on the other page it has a Tagalog counterpart on the other page... Isn't that amazing! It would be easier for pupils to read and understand what they are reading plus gaining both Tagalog and English vocabulary...

Really thankful to Angela Chua who scanned bookstores and buying just the right story books. I am imagining kids squatting in the floor reading it silently.

A Video Presentation for Adopt a School Library

I am really happy to have a circle of friends who goes above and beyond just to help other people. Leigh Maneja created a video presentation for the Project Mountain Alphabet Campaign compiled from the photos we have.

It is still our first school library to adopt but I am happy with the people working behind it to make sure it sails smoothly.

Nonetheless, If you want to share your books please do let us know. You can also add us in our facebook page BOOK CAMPAIGN

Champorado

Champorado is an all time Filipino comfort food. I remember growing up, my mom used to serve a hot champorado during cold/rainy weekend. This sweet chocolate rice porridge uses glutinous rice or malagkit in local Tagalog term. Traditionally, we use chocolate tableya (pure cocoa) instead of the cocoa powder or powder chocolate.

Add condensed milk on top.

International Book Giving Day is February 14

Click here to know more about International Book Giving Day

Three simple ways to celebrate International Book Giving Day!

1. Give a Book to a Friend or Relative. - Celebrate International Book Giving Day by providing a child a brand new or used books. This helps spreading the love of reading to everyone.

2. Leave a Book in a Waiting Room or Lobby - Celebrate International Book Giving Day by leaving a book in a room or a lobby where there are a number of children. So choose a waiting room where kids are stuck waiting like clinic, in house playgrounds. Choose a waiting room that has  few to no good books available. Purchase a good book, and deposit your book covertly or overtly in your waiting room of choice. The goal here is to spread the love of reading to kids, so choose a fun book, nothing controversial.

New Year's Resolution

I am just another guy who hopes to have a better year.
I know that there are many reason why I should be thankful for the past year.
I gained new friends, new experiences that would for sure make me a better me.
Many may have prepared their new year's resolution.
It could be a long list and logs of things to be or not to be done.
Though I am not a fan of New Year's Resolution, I don't despise those who does.
Actually this year, I only have one thing I need or must do for the whole year of 2013 and I think this would be my new year's resolution too.

This year, I will still continue what I have started last year, that is collecting books and distributing it to some unfortunate schools who doesn't have a library.
This year, I hope to make it big. I could collect good books and magazines and in the long run, I also I could bring some school supplies to the said school recipients.

I know there are people out there who have a kind heart to help. If you have something to share please do let me know. I always vacate my weekends for meet ups so I could start collecting those donations.

Together if we just help each other everything is possible.

Here's an article I wanted to share too: 2013 - New Hope

My Fruity Maja Blanca

Maja Blanca or others would call it “Maja” is one of my favorite dessert.  The original Maja blanca is made of mainly cornstarch, coconut milk and sugar.  However, thru the years Maja Blanca has evolved and different version has been created.

Before, Maja Blanca is actually serve on special occasions. Nowadays, Maja Blanca can be bought in school canteens, restaurants, and or even along the streets. For me, I would consider Maja Blanca as one of the Philippine Street foods as it is literally found anywhere usually together with other Filipino desserts like puto, kutsinta, and the like.

Tuna Escabeche

Escabeche is really popular among Filipino's. Filipino's came up with different variation. This time around I am proud that I have learned a new way of cooking Tuna. I am really excited visiting other houses during Holiday Season because I've got to learn new ways and techniques of cooking different Filipino dishes. They called it Tuna Escabeche Waray Version.
